ISO 9001 covers the Zhongshan quality management system; IATF 16949:2016 applies to the certified Zhongshan powder-metallurgy manufacturing scope. Inspection is selected around the part and control plan. Dimensional checks may be combined with hardness, density, mechanical, metallographic or surface measurements when those characteristics are relevant to the drawing and material condition.
CMM and other dimensional methods support FAI, datum-based verification and production checks on characteristics defined by the drawing and control plan.
Rockwell and Vickers hardness testing can be applied to the required material condition, heat-treatment validation or wear-critical features.
Archimedes density measurement can be used for PM and MIM material or process verification where density is a specified or relevant characteristic.
Universal tensile testing supports material and validation requirements when tensile, yield or elongation data are required by the project specification.
Sectioning, preparation and microscopy can be used to review porosity, microstructure, case condition or other metallographic requirements defined for the program.
Surface-roughness measurement supports functional, wear, cosmetic or sealing-adjacent surfaces when Ra/Rz or another finish requirement is specified.
Material and process standards behind the documentation. Quality documentation is only meaningful if the underlying specification is unambiguous. Powder metallurgy and MIM material requirements are published through recognised standards rather than trade shorthand: MPIF Standard 35-MIM — Materials Standards for Metal Injection Molded Parts for MIM property data, ASTM B883-24 for metal injection moulded ferrous materials and ISO 5755:2022 for sintered metal material specifications. Ferrous grades also carry UNS numbers, so 316L can be specified as UNS S31603 and 17-4PH as UNS S17400. Where a program requires a property to be contractually meaningful, it is traced to one of these references and verified by inspection rather than assumed.
Shipment, approval and validation records are defined during quotation and project planning. The exact package depends on the drawing, customer quality requirements and submission level.
